ROS: Remote Operation System

With the Remote Operation System you can use a Remote Station tipically via internet (using the Public IP) or via private LAN (using the Private IP) from a Base Station.

This system is also extremely simple and requires no additional audio programs to work.  Only install ROS in both computers and run.

REMOTE STATION CONFIGURATION

Select Remote Mode as “Remote Station”. Write a Password twice and select a port. If port is in yellow, port is closed or disabled by a firewall. For Internet Remote Operation you need to open a TCP Port in your Router. For a Private LAN it is not necessary.

If Remote Station uses CAT, you have to select the Operating Bands in the panel. This avoid that Base Station can damage your Rig transmitting in a frequency with a High-SWR. In the example, i have selected 40, 30 and 20 meters according to my dipoles. Now my friend EA5HUK can use my station via remote from his Bus without posibility of transmit on 160 meters and damage the IC-725 (*)

If Remote Station doen’t uses CAT, Base Station only can work in one frequency, obviously.

Remote Switch

This option is useful for activating a relay remotely via the serial port from the Base Station. Their use depends on the imagination of each Ham.

Email button

This button send the Remote Station Configuration to your email (IP, Port and Password)  to be easily remembered.

Windows Alert

On Remote Station Mode, Windows will ask you to unlock the program.

Open Ports

For Remote Operation via internet you have to open a TCP Port in your Router. If you dont know how, ask in forums.

BASE STATION CONFIGURATION

Select Remote Mode as “Base Station”. Enter the Password, Port and the Remote Station IP (Public IP in the case of internet). Press connect button and you will be using the Remote Station. In the Base Station is not neccesary open any port.

“And now, on with the opera”

(*) The IC-725 is property of EA5HJY. Thanks also for his contribution.
