A Tail of Atlantic Arson
After wallowing in the technical issues surrounding the launch of the ROS mode, unabashed , AA6YQ carries the ” Torch of Cross Atlantic Relations “ in an attempt set ablaze relations surrounding the unique Opera data mode.
Rather than lighting the path to inclusion,
The new Opera mode is now left in the shadows , met with a wall of silence over its inclusion in the ADIF format and eQSL, where other new modes pass silently into the scheme.
Announcement of DX decodes and exchange of qsl cards by the user group using any of the web-based qsl systems or qrz.com are prevented from doing so , now one year on by the egocentric eccentricities of one un trained self proclaimed ”Data policeman”

Is this the same idiot that hates the so called Spread Spectrum mode? They pissed of cos u proved him wrong by proving its not .
15 January, 2013 at 18:45
Yes, the same idiot, but he is only a puppet of the ARRL.
I could teach them who to do something similar to Opera, but please, stop censorship and ridicule again.

The problem is made by FCC, communication “experts” lies about ROS and Opera,Both organization ARRL and IARU together are only puppets of FCC.
Solution is only one: higher activity OPERA and ROS modem on HF bands in whole world.
Generally with IARU it goes downhill, remember on Z60 prefix story (In fact pirate activity supported by chief staff IARU)

Opera is not under dispute in the USA , its a single carrier mode , what is ,despite formal request, its omission from the ADIF format , which in turn is preventing the normal use of the eqsl facilities.

SO why is it not being added ? What is the problem ? Please lets ask nicely first

Good News all
Received via email
It will be added as soon as it is added by the ADIF committee. I think, but I’m not 100% sure, that they plan on adding it to the next version of the ADIF spec.

Johan, Opera have been censored from ADIF by AA6YQ and friends (ARRL)
31 January, 2013 at 23:10
I did ask in the forum , but the request did not receive any reply s , during this time , other non-functional modes have been added , this also is preventing qrz.com etc from listing the Op mode

So that is a correct statement , but open ended in its interpretation / implimentation.

I think some issues must be discussed by all IARU regions, not only by region 2 influenced by ARRL and FCC. The ARRL is very important, but it would be only for american HAM, as FCC also, I mean, the influence área would be restricted only for FCC and ARRL circunscrites.
The decision of ban Opera started and finished only by those institutions is not in accordance of the deal of the radioamateur ethics and practice. That is my 2 cents worth.

- ADIF 3.0.2 was released on 9 June 2012
- Mode OPERA was requested on 10 October 2012 and included in the next available release, ADIF 3.0.3
- ADIF 3.0.3 was released on 26 February and contained OPERA as requested.
- Mode OPERA QSO was requested on 5th March 2012
- ADIF 3.0.4 has not yet been released – it is being worked on, and will include OPERA QSO. It is likely to be several weeks before the work on the specification is complete.
The full history is available at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/adifdev/messages
There can be long delays between new ADIF specifications due to people having other commitments and also trying to get a large number of developers to agree things.

That should have said “- Mode OPERA QSO was requested on 5th March 2013″ and not 2012.
